Why You Should Never Under Estimate Using Noise and Its Role In Women's Self Defense

Never Under Estimate Using Noise and Its Role In Women's Self Defense

How does using noise relate to women's self defense?

Most potential attacker do not want to be noticed by anyone.  They have one desire and that is to take something that belongs to you.

This item could be physical or emotional in nature.

The attacker wants to do what he plans to do without being noticed or drawing attention.  The interloper will do anything to keep his crime a secret and will wait until you are out of eye sight or out of ear shot of the general public before he will perpetrate his crime. If you make noise to attract the attention of other people, most attackers will resist the urge to continue the assault once started.

Women's self defense advocates argue that using your voice or other noise makers will thwart most attacks.

Your voice is your best defense in most situations.  If you see a potential dangerous situation beginning to develop do not be afraid to scream.

Even if you are mistaken, it is not against the law to scream your head off.  The person will most likely change his mind if ....

The Statistics Are Compelling!

Statistical Reasons to Take a Women's Self-Defense Course

There are many reasons women take women's self defense courses. The motivation in many of these decisions are knowing the statistics. If women knew of the number of attacks each year on women, women's self defense course would have full attendance. Sexual assault and domestic violence are two of the most common types of violence that women will experience. Other assaults happen during crimes such as robberies or muggings. The assault may come from a stranger, but most of the time the violence is from a person the woman knows or from her own family.
There were almost five million acts of violence reported in the United States last year which involved women twelve years old and older. Three quarters of women who were attacked while by themselves and half of the women attacked by multiple assailants were attacked by people that they knew.

Women's Self Defense - Hand Held Personal Safety

Never Get Caught Off-Guard: Functional Safety Awarness

Women's Self Defense - Hand Held Protection

Every woman needs to carry a self-defense weapon. You'll never know when you actually need one so it's smart to carry one with you at all times. If you are not a big fan of tactical knives or any other close combat tools that can be potentially lethal then you may want to consider simple but effective weapons such as

The first two weapons are designed to inflict pain on someone by stabbing or jabbing any of the pressure points on their body. These key chains are great because they are lightweight and they are highly concealable. An assailant won't probably know that you are carrying something that can harm them in more ways than they can imagine.

The ICE-BK-1. CIA Defense Tool on the other hand is actually an ice scraper but it sure does come in handy when you need an emergency self defense tool.

To use the self defense key chains, simply insert your fingers into the knuckle holes and hit your assailant's pressure points using the pointed tips (ears). The principal areas that you can hit which can cause pain to someone include the forearms, bridge of the nose, stomach, shins, collar bone, spine, temple, ribs, neck, eyes, groin, solar plexus and knuckles.

The premise behind these tools is for you to have a defensive advantage without making it obvious that you are carrying something that can potentially incapacitate someone.

The The ICE-BK-1. CIA Defense Tool is both an ice scraper and a close quarter combat tool. It's very easy to use. Just slide your middle finger through the hole and throw a devastating punch to your assailant. This will cause greater damage than a regular punch.

If you want to add more weapons to your self defense arsenal, you may want to check out SABRE RED Spitfire Police Strength PepperSpray.

This refillable pepper spray deploys with less effort and it features greater accuracy for maximum safety. This is the brand used by the NYPD, Los Angeles Country Sherriff's Department and Chicago Police Department among others.

This compact pepper spray offers excellent value for your money.

It is very lightweight and easily accessible. Weighing approximately 0.21 ounces, you can easily stash this self defense tool in your purse or pocket.

You can also use it as a key chain so you can immediately get a hold of it during emergency situations. It's fairly cheap so it's not a bad idea to stock up on it!

Pepper Spray What Is It And How Does It Work

Pepper spray (also known as OC spray-Oleoresin Capsicum), or capsicum spray is an inflammatory agent. (A chemical that irritates the eyes to cause tears, pain, and temporary blindness) The spray is an organically based inflammatory agent derived from the active ingredient of cayenne peppers. Pepper spray typically comes in canisters, which are often small enough to be carried concealed in a pocket or purse.

Pepper spray causes immediate dilating of the eye capillaries resulting in temporary blindness, temporary paralysis of the larynx (which causes subjects to lose their breath), choking and coughing. The defensive spray also will create an intense burning sensation on the surface of the skin and nausea. The mucous membranes will swell to prevent all but life support breathing. After being sprayed subjects immediately cover their eyes and bend over into a defensive posture to avoid further contact. It is very uncomfortable and there is some pain associated with it. The result is temporary incapacitation, mostly due to not being able to see or breathe properly.

OC Spray may not be quite as effective on addicts, intoxicated or hysterical persons. You may have to spray them twice with a good burst of pepper spray to have the desired effect. The length of the effects depend on the strength of the spray but the average full effect lasts around thirty to forty-five minutes, with after effects lasting for hours. The strongest concentrations are 15% active ingredients and rated at 2 million scoville heat units. The high scoville heat rating is more important than the actual percentage of pepper spray ingredients.

Pepper spray is often used to control riots or other violent situations as well as in self defense. A violent assault occurs every 15 seconds in the US and carrying defensive sprays are potent self defense products and safer than guns. Pepper spray is non lethal except under a few rare circumstances, depending on pre-existing medical conditions. There is rarely long term vision damage.

If one is infected with pepper spray, the best thing to do is to blink constantly. This will induce tears that can wash the pepper spray out of ones eyes. Washing one’s eyes with soap such as mild non-oily degreasing dishwasher detergent can help you relive some of the pepper’s irritation. The pepper spray has an effect of about half an hour until the effects ware off. Pepper spray is illegal in certain countries such as UK, and may require a license in some other countries.

The Importance of Self Defense Training

Talk to your loved ones about who they should consider safe. Remember, there are degrees of safety as well but it is so very important to talk to our loved ones about the individuals that they "sort of" know. The people that they know because they see them around alot, but don't really know anything about them.

The Functional Safety Awareness program will give you the information you need to teach your loved ones (and yourself) how to be safe in an increasingly unsafe world!

5 tips that will help you to defend yourself

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along. — Eleanor Roosevelt

Girls ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault. Source: http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/sexual-assault-victims

Here you will find great 5 tips that will help you to defend yourself.

1. Take a strong, solid standing position:
Your very first step is to take a solid, strong stance - it will not only help you to start to level the playing field  your enemy, but will also make it difficult for your enemy to knock you off your balance. A very easy way to take a solid stance, easily and quickly, is to expand your feet to about shoulder width apart. This will make you stand strong and firm. Another important trick, for taking a rock-solid stance, is to stand on your left foot ahead of you, if you're a right-handed person. Same trick will apply on your right foot, if you're a left-handed person.
2. Movement confuses your opponent - Take advantage:
Always try to take advantage of the small tricks you can use in your fight. The second trick you should take advantage of, is to move on your right side if your contender is right-handed. Similarly, try to move on your left side constantly, if your contender is left-handed.
  • First, this will confuse your opponent, they are expecting you to freeze like a rabbit out of fear.
  • Secondly, this will help you to distance from your opponent, which is what you want. You want to be outside of their "punch" if possible.
  • Thirdly, this simple act will increase pressure on your opponent and you can think of your next trick in the meanwhile. Typically, these guys are not rocket scientists, so thinking and moving can get to be overwhelming for them if you play your cards right!
3. Height matters - Know your strength:
In every fight, height surely matters a lot. If you're taller, try to keep your contender at a short distance. This will not only help you to hit with your long limbs, but also confuses your opponent of your next trick.
However, if you're shorter than your opponent, you need to keep yourself far from your opponent.
4. Punches - A great asset :
In any fight, a great punch is always appreciated and admired. Try to hit with a punch while being in a straight position to your opponent. After hitting your target, move to the side you threw your punch from. It will help keep you safe from the punch you'll likely receive from your opponent in answer.
Remember! Blocking your opponent's punches, while throwing jabs and upper cuts could be your ticket to surviving your fight. Keep them in mind and use them effectively in your fight.
5. Constant punches - It will help you win your fight:
If you can, you need to hit your opponent's face, arms, biceps, and ribs, constantly. This will really help you in the long run to survive and defend yourself, if you don't know how to fight, at all. Just keep trying to hit him hard as many times as you can. It does not have to be pretty!
